My Asus EEE 901 has been great (and was fantastically cheap!)...

I can't recommend Ubuntu Linux enough, but you may indeed want Windows for compatibility. Also, it is very easy to dual-boot.

Best of luck. Netbooks rule!

Thanks! The Asus EEE seems to be the way to go for now, but I'll have to go look at them...maybe this week, maybe next...and see if I can make a good decision. Finding reviews for these are hard, 'cause they're all about four, five months old...

I have friends who run Ubuntu and love it, and yes, dual-booting is a snap, but I dunno if I'd play with that on a Netbook ;) Thanks, though!

G has an HP Netbook and it's his new baby. He programs on it while I sit on the main computer and go on LJ ;) He bought a little bag for it too. He carries to work every day, with an umbrella tucked into one end. It's man purse!

AWWWWW yeah, I can see why. I saw a guy with a teeny netbook at the end of a row of laptops last night and I was like OH TINY SHINY OH! I want to pet you, you so pretty~

I realize they're tapping into the same thing that makes us want teacup Yorkies, but...but...*___*
