. . . yeah, I had enough trouble just tweaking Vista so I could use it without getting annoyed (uh, which I still do on occasion); I can't even imagine the endless time sink of changing it to XP. You are a stronger person than I!
And while I am not much of a shoe person, yay for looking nice! :D
In that case, it was because XP does not have drivers for a SATA hard drive, which--surprise surprise!--the computer had. So I had to find out how to get the drives back on other drivers. Then and only then could I actually install XP, which as it turns out, TAKES FOREVER. ~La la la~
I'm enjoying my Vista experience so far, though I rather miss the My Docs/My Computer icons on my desktop. Also, the icons on the desktop are ENORMOUS, which took some getting used to. But otherwise, I'm all right with it, and don't understand the enormous bad press it's gotten. (Well, okay, I always give MS a year to work the bugs out of an OS, and that happened in this case.)
*laughs* I used to not be, but then I worked at Target in the shoe section and found myself using the word "cute" all too often. Starting to teach helped with that, too. And sometimes it's nice to deslob for a few hours ;)
I think it's cool you live near to all the places you need to frequent now :) Well, except school, of course. I actually really miss living near a Walgreens. Turns out I need Walgreens like 3 times a week - who knew?!
It's amazing! And weird! It's kinda like being back in Indy again, only noisier and more, uh, "ethnic." But I could walk to a grocery store if I wanted to, and that's pretty spiffy.
(I probably won't, unless it's mid-day. But that's all part of growing up.)
I need to take you to this Walgreens sometime, then. HUGE AISLES. BIG LIGHTS. GIANT LIQUOR SECTION. I'm looking forward to showing it to my 'rents, this is how awesome I think it is. And it's 24 hours! \o/
And well, it's an important place, especially if you forgot to buy toilet paper. Again.
You have my sympathies regarding Vista! If it makes you feel any better, us professional IT folks hate it, too...
Yes, I know it's been forever, but I just wanted to say hello and wish you the best for the upcoming Academic Year. I hope you're doing well. Email me sometime...?
Oh, I don't mind Vista so much; I use it on the home laptop, and we're getting along. But rolling back Vista to XP--as was REQUIRED for that machine--is a pain in the ass. I'm glad I know how to do it now, but UGH, NOT AGAIN FOR A WHILE, PLEASE.
*waves* Hello again! And thank you. I hope things are going well on your end as well. I am a terrible person with the e-mails, but I'll do my best, 'kay?
