I did my first apheresis today. It was pretty much like donating blood, only they let me do less of it--one pint, not two. *sigh* But I gave platelets, too, which I suppose makes up for it. My count is "really high," which is a good thing (I CLOT GOOD), and I go back in a month to do it again. I would totally be down with being able to drop a ( Read more... )

I get the fear people have over both those things, pointy things going where they really shouldn't be poking around but I've never had a problem with either. I hate putting stuff in with needles but getting stuff out is easy, even last time when it took four attempts and two arms. I had little bits of sticky tape and cotton wool everywhere.
The pap-smear was just Wham Bam, Thank You Mam, without the whamming or bamming or even the Mam part. =D

I have no problem with needles, in or out. And I'm lucky in that I have pretty good veins, so getting one in generally takes only one attempt. The blood pressure cuff, on the other hand, is my nemesis. The electronic ones NEVER WORK on me! It's kinda annoying!
