How do you suppose people go about spreading altruism via the net?
I know people mimic a lot of what they see and discover virtually but I rarely see common courtesy at work with what are essentially strangers to them.

You are right about people rarely going out of their way to prove to strangers that they are 'good'. but, I'm not sure if any concentrated effort is even really necessary. As long as people who behave keep large groups of friends (which they do), the meme will more readily spread through them than it will others. I think cognitive dissonance will have a lot to do with it
