Scene 11 - Dost thou love me? I know thou wilt say 'Ay,'

Dec 04, 2008 11:24

Dearest Saint Nicholas,

If I could'st but beg thine indulgence, for the whim of a girl far from home.

I wish only for these things: good health for my friends, strength and joy for my dear cousin, and a glimpse of my own love's face.

Surely these are but small requests?

Does Santa really give presents like that?

I know it not, but shall I ask for earthly things, for pretty things, when these other are more pressing?

There's not much point if he can't deliver...you could always ask Santa to give your friends things, if that would make them feel better.

But I know not what they should like, what should make them truly happy. Thou hast the right of it, though -- these are better wishes than such ethereal thoughts of health and love, that are bestowed by gods and fortune, and not by children's tales.

I don't know about granting w-words, but I can offer friendship and shopping trips?
