Sounds like you have a house skunk. Here's hoping he stays nice and calm. Might have to barricade the cats in bedrooms for a few hours while you leave the door open for him to go out.

I am glad we don't have to worry about coyotes here. Generally have to go about 100 miles north of the city to get into their territory.

Yep, I put Buddy in with Emma and kept Brindle with us and took up all food and water. It took a while but she finally went out! Much, much relieve. But I can see why people would descent them and keep them as pets.

I live close to the mountains, but they foray fairly deeply into suburbia by using the train tracks and such. Plus, we've had bad fires lately. I don't know if a majority of the critters weren't able to escape the flames or if there is now a population explosion of refugees amongst us. :(

Shoot, he might even be an escaped (hopefully descented) pet.

EEk! Good luck with the skunk. I hope he doesn't get angry with the door for not letting it out.

This skunk was more than happy to stay inside and would scramble like mad to run back inside the three times I tried to shoo her out. I notice tempers are rising out there...and the back of her neck was pink and hairless. It seems a bit early for the mating season, though. She might just not wanted to be bothered.
