Again? Didn't he go through this before a couple years ago saying he was "in talks" with MGM? And as it turned out, Ark and Continuum were made, so they seem pretty happy with the SG-1 spin on the mythology (usually I am sympathetic to the original script writer/authors, but here...I guess my loyalty's to the Double Secret franchise now).

He seems to always bring it up when he's plugging something else. In the past he said he's approached Spader about it.

Devlin and Emmerich have the rights for theatrical releases; that's why SG1 content has to be direct to dvd.

SG and SG1 are two different things in my mind. I heard D&E were *pissed* that Daniel had been killed off. In a way, you could make a case that SG1 is fanfic from the original SG movie and that killing off Daniel was damaging to the original creators. :::snerk:::

Well, Spader is free now from Boston Legal. I wonder if that is why he's brought it up again.

What aurora said, but also...why not recast and reboot? ST has done it. BSG has done it. Dr Who has done it (although it always does it). Terminator SCC has done it.

Yeah. Why not? I'd look forward to a Devlin version, if he only hadn't used the second SG movie script and rewritten it for Independence Day.

I'd be interested in a new project. Devlin respects characters like Daniel. I suppose MGM would think that fans will get confused if there are two universes to the Stargate story. I'd like it though.

I didn't know that about Independence Day.

Edited to be clearer.
