My friend analyzed around twenty different versions of the Ballad of Tam Lin for her thesis in literature. :D It's pretty crazy.

I had never heard of Tam Lin before. It's an intriguing concept that he can be whoever his intended victim wants most. I love how you wrote this so it could have been Ten until the very last moment when the reader just knew he would never ask her that. Most excellent and I look forward to more.
