[ Even though Mia spends a decent amount of her time inside her apartment nowadays (mostly eavesdropping on the journals, of course), she is usually outside doing various other things whenever the weather's nice and she's feeling bored too. With the recent rain though, she's definitely been nonexistent to the outside world for a few days, which isn ( Read more... )

[ Newly returning from his evening grocery trip, Allen's maneuvering the building door open with care and stepping inside when he notices the slick floor underfoot. ]

Water. . . ?

-lp!

[ Unfortunately for him, the insight lasts about two seconds. The smash of a dropped jar lasts much longer. See, kids, this is why you shouldn't try to walk and juggle two heavy bags. ]

[ That's... probably something that would get a guy laughed at, if Mia wasn't so under the weather at the moment. For now she just looks over at the commotion, the picture of bland interest from a darkly-colored someone hanging around in the dark. ]

... Careful, now.

Ah!

[ That is good advice. Unfortunately, Allen is sort of. . . wedged inside the doorway, one bag somehow jammed between shoulder and head, and the other balanced on one knee. The fact that only one jar fell is probably a miracle. Now the question is how he's going to get out of this without dropping more. ]

I will! Sorry-were you coming in?

... I suppose.

[ She gathers up her journal, standing up very slowly before walking over. And then? She just kind of stares at him in his predicament- she can't really get past him as is, but unusually, she doesn't seem amused, annoyed, or concerned like someone who just ran into such an obstacle normally would be. ]

Ah-let me get out of your way-

[ Allen eyes the first bag-with some difficulty, since it's just at the corner of his eye. Then he pushes the contents of the bag on his knee down a bit and hefts it into the air, heeling the door to keep it open. This gives him enough time to step outside and unshoulder the first bag. It settles into the crook of his arm while he reaches forward and catches the other falling bag.

A little showy, sure, but hey. ]

I wasn't expecting the floors to be cleaned today. . .

[ His voice trails off a bit; is it his imagination, or is the ground wet wherever she's standing. . . ? ]

[ What do you want- applause? Because it's not happening... even though Mia does seem at a temporary loss for how exactly to respond to something like that- it's a pretty interesting skill, after all.

She's not really familiar with the concept of floors being cleaned manually or requiring water to do so though. She tilts her head at him. ]

Oh? What do you mean by that...?

[ Mostly for Mia to move inside! The door's been cleared, after all, and there's someone holding it open. Namely, Allen. The happy ease melts to something a little perplexed, though. Puzzled by puzzlement. ]

The floors?

Ah... odd, isn't it? It's not raining any more...

[ She steps through, around the broken glass, but isn't particularly concerned about it. ]

Come to think of it, I've never seen them cleaned. . .

[ But it's wet, still, and-from where she's come in, the water gleams like a path. Before she can head further inward, Allen calls over to her. ]

Ah! Would you mind holding on for a moment?

[ Mia pauses, but doesn't seem particularly pleased with doing whatever he wants- she eyes him with mild suspicion. ]

Hm?

[ It's a silly thing to stop somebody for. But the journals have been abuzz for the past few days. And it's a strangeness, certainly, when Allen hasn't seen a single cloud all day. And she doesn't look near damp enough. He sticks his head out the door long enough to investigate that, yeah, the trail extends to where she'd been standing when he'd come in, before heading back in. ]

If you don't mind my asking, have you been to the river today at all?

Today? I have not.

[ Ah semantics- NOT TODAY. ]

... Why?

It's only. . . it looks as if no one's cleaned the floors after all. The water seems to be trailing you, actually.
