[Marcus]

"Sebastian, I'm close,"

I wanted to kill him. Even as my scribe busily noted the exclamations coming from the two of them, I wanted to storm in there and tear Faustus' throat open. But I needed Sebastian to be put on trial. If he was sacrificed, I could carry out my plan and slay Kain. But why did the only opportunity I had to give the army gossips a new traitor in the ranks to distract people involve Sebastian and that /whore/?

I tried to make myself remember that Sebastian had chosen this, but God damn it... if I had never tricked him into having that dream about Faustus, chances are none of this would have happened. And I would have stood a chance, however small, of successfully seducing him some time.

Sebastian and I had been at each other's throats for years now, and I had enjoyed every minute of it. Seeing his face twist with pain and anger. He wore scowls so well... and he fought like a demon.

He was appalled at me when we last fought and his biting my shoulder made me cry out in pleasure. I wonder how much more disgusted he would be if he knew that the arousal I had been nursing all through our fight peaked when he bit me. That was an... interesting night.

But Faustus decided to interrupt our wars twice. Once when the two of them first fell for each other, and once more now. That bite had been on one of the nights when him and Faustus were together, but I could just about bear things because at that time it seemed their relationship would not last. When Faustus disappeared, I thought that was the end of their little tryst.

I had to be wrong, of course. Fate likes to second guess me.

"And I - yours Faustus, everything - yours."

/Damnit/ Sebastian, why couldn't you have better taste? Why Faustus? Faustus was weak and pathetic and in no way special. Everyone knew you had talent. Even Kain had been considering making you his second-in-command, though that is bound to change now. I'll never forgive you for this. I could have loved you, Sebastian.

Now you're nothing but a traitor.
