I thought Catherine Gilbert Murdock's Front and Center (Book 3 in the Dairy Queen trilogy) was much more entertaining than Princess Ben, which I never finished. Despite my lack of interest in sports, it made me laugh and cry. Incidentally, I think this series makes me a little nostalgic about the three years I lived in Minnesota because of the narrator's accent.

I also really liked Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale. Goose Girl, by the same author, was good, too.

I've been curious about the Dairy Queen books for a while. I really need to give them a chance.

And I love Book of a Thousand Days. I think it's the best book that Hale has put out (although I haven't read Forest Born, or Calamity Jack yet).

You can't even tell the Dairy Queen books are written by the same author; it's that different.

I agree. Book of a Thousand Days is the best of the ones I've read. I loved these two lines: "The silence will lower me into the night like into a grave." “I plead the honor of being the dagger of your revenge.”

I just purchased Forest Born. Have you read Austenland? I enjoyed it more than I expected.
