Library Run!

Here's what I picked up at my most recent library run:

Shalador's Lady by Anne Bishop
Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison
Skinned by Robin Wasserman

Shalador's Lady is the lastest book in the Black Jewels Series. It's also a direct follow up to The Shadow Queen, which I read last year and enjoyed. Black Magic Sanction is the newest The Hollows/Rachel ( Read more... )

I enjoyed SKINNED quite a bit, and will be picking up the sequel once it comes out in trade. There are some comparisons to THE ADORATION OF JENNA FOX, but the books are different from each other.

I have heard some people make comments about the protagonist, Lia, being unlikable. It's interesting, because on the podcast I listened to, the author said she gets a lot of complaints about Lia in her fan mail. She finds it amusing because these same people tend to be in love with a certain male character (who is apparently very attractive and can be pretty awful). There was something about that comment that made me want to pick up the book and judge Lia's likableness for myself.

I hope I like the book :)

Lia's character makes a lot of sense in context. Then again, I've thought a lot about the issue Wasserman tackles in the book, so I'm more open to characterization than some. :)

I think you'll be fine. I'll shoot you my review once you post yours!
