Also when I was on vacation I picked up two used books at a library sale:

HI there, I know this is an old post, but I clicked your "Jacqueline Carey" tag and found it. :)

I was wondering what you thought of Midnight Never Come by Marie Brennan. I loved Warrior and Witch by her, but wasn't able to get very far in Midnight Never Come and I'm not sure why. I want to try reading it again.

I'd really like to know what someone else thought, because I watch her here on LJ and I know this is going to be an big series for her, and I really don't want to miss out on more books by an author I know I can enjoy.

I thought that Midnight Never Come started off a little slow, but it really picked up after a while. I have her Warrior and Witch duology in my TBR. I take it you recommend it?

Okay, I'll give it another try, then (if I can find it! I think it disappeared in the general mayhem that is my car).

I do recommend Warrior and Witch. :) There's a small possibility you may think Warrior starts off slow too, but once it picks up it doesn't slow down again. Witch is my favorite of the two, as a close look of what happens to a society when the foundations of their way of life and belief system are proven false. But it needs Warrior to lay the groundwork, and it's a very good book too.
