This was the first Connie Willis book I ever read, and I absolutely fell in love with. Time travel, the Middle Ages... oh, I was absolutely hooked. :)

My second was Passage (another serious, and not time-travel), and then To Say Nothing of the Dog, which threw me because I had no idea that Willis did tongue-in-cheek humor. I like that book better upon reflection. Still think Blackout and All Clear is overly stuffed and could've been one book, but there is nice emotional pay-off.

Bellwether was an absolute hoot!

I just got Passage from paperbackswap. It looks good but wow it's long!

I think I flew through it, but I was SUPER-INTERESTED in the subject matter. :)

Yup, loved this book. Perfect mix of historical fiction and scifi!

Very true. There are people I would recommend this to who aren't necessarily sci-fi fans due to how well the historical aspects are handled.

I read this back in 2011, and while I really enjoyed it, I echo your sentiments about Mr. Dunsworth's storyline. His trying to coax information out of the sick technician felt so loonngg and tedious. I really liked the rest of the story though. And that ending! :( That was heart-wrenching.

Very true! You could see it coming, but that didn't make it any less heartbreaking.
