This book didn't click for me at all either. Frankly, nothing I've read with Pratchett's name on it has clicked (I've read a short story and a novel called Mort, which was cute in its own way, but...), so I'm always leery of giving him another shot.
Kind of glad to hear I'm not the only one. I have The Colour of Magic sitting on myself and reading this doesn't really inspire me to pick up that one anytime soon. Mind if I ask what else of Terry Pratchett have you read?
I'm with you on the Good Omen issue : i liked it but it's not a favourite book of mine. It's not even one I want to re-read, maybe because the humour felt a bit heavy-handed to me.
aw, i'm sad you (and others) didn't enjoy this:s Not because i think everyone should always like the same thing, but it is one of my favorite books, so i wish others would get as much enjoyment from it as i did;) To each their own, i guess- that makes life interesting right?:)
I know I feel the same way when it comes to books I've enjoyed. I mean, when my fiance told me he just couldn't get into Kusheil's Dart by Jacqueline Carey, I remember feeling very let down. When you love something, it's natural to want to share that love with other people.
I had the same experience with Good Omens. It was relayed to me that fans of Pratchett really enjoyed this one, while fans of Gaiman were a bit disappointed. I don't know if that is accurate, but I have only read Gaiman's work, and other than this book, I really enjoy his works.
Maybe it really more like a Terry Pratchett then a Nail Gaiman book? Anansi Boys had a lot of similar humor, but it is rather different than his other works.
