I kind of wish there was more to the historical aspect of the story too. Why use placeholder monarchy when the author could have maybe retold a certain historical time period with more precision? It was all so vague.

Yeah. I have to wonder if she left it intentionally vague or if I really missed something. Maybe she just wanted to focus on the fantasy aspects more? Who knows!
