An Update.

Well, today marked one month in GA. What a month it's been. Four days after I got here, I had to report in to start work as a teacher. Specifically to the new teacher training. A week and a half from that day, school officially started in Newton County. So as of August 1st, I've been a 7th grade teacher at Cousins Middle School ( Read more... )

Does your school have a tutoring program? Or afterschool program? Might want to look into it for those students in danger of failing. Are those students considered special education? Your school would be required by law to provide extra help for them, in the form of another teacher who could pull them out of the classroom and give them additional, more personalized help.

Those are things that just came off the top of my head. :) Glad you're enjoying your teaching rather than pulling your hair out. Always a good sign. ^.^b

There is a special ed class for those kids who fall under their umbrella. I'm not entirely sure of the requirements, but I know that four of my homeroom kids fall under it, and spend the day entirely somewhere else, only seeing me for homeroom. (And they are the BEST behaved kids I've ever seen. One boy follows me around during homeroom if he doesn't have other homework, offering to do something to help me ( ... )
