Movies out of boredom

I should have brought my book with me because I've been sitting here for the past half hour or so bored out of my mind. About the only exciting thing I learned that I didn't know (mostly because I must not have been paying any attention, or have been so preoccupied by other things) is that Guy Ritchie directed the new Sherlock Holmes movie. James Cameron did Aliens, which is of course formulaic but outstanding. And also The Abyss, which I really like, too.

But he's not god's gift to directing and he's let it all go to his head.

Also Michael Bay needs to be caught in one of his own explosions and George Lucas needs to be hit on the head with a blunt object. Like the Death Star.

I forgot about Aliens. Thanks for reminding me. Yes, he has done some very enjoyable movies, but since the 90s, has he really done anything that great? Yeah, and I'm bothered by how the expanded universe of Star Wars has made the Death Star into a minor plaything now and blown Boba Fett into more than just someone that fans thought was kind of cool, but ultimately died a joke of a death.
