Here's the thing--when White Collar started in 2009, I really struggled with it.
I mean, I got it, the appeal. Matt Bomer was a sexy BAMF seen previously on Tru Calling, Traveler, and Chuck, he's smoking and has that endearing hipster gay thing going on. Tim DeKay has been on basically every show that's aired since 1996 (though I personally liked

And yet I, too, am taken with 'Suits' and Harvey/Mike. As a show, I like that most of the more central characters thus far, both male and female and of all races & ethnicities, get to be strong & clever. But I also wish there could be more shows where there are opportunities for popular ships that aren't just two special white dudes. And more shows that focus on characters of color as much as the white dudes. Basically, the world needs more Burton Gusters.

Truer words, man. I guess I just wonder what the show would be like if, say, Harvey was Will Yun Lee. Would it still be the same? Or would fandom somehow make Mike/Louis the OTP?
Thank god the world will never know on that score, I guess. But--what if Gina Torres was Mike's senior partner? That would just be amazing.

The thing I love about Suits is that the women are thus far awesome (and while I wish there was more female interaction, at least they don't appear to just talk about men) and that Harvey has no issues with a woman boss and there isn't that underlying creepiness of "I would/have/going to tap that."

Though, oddly enough, I was reading one story that referred to Jessica as "Mrs. Pearson" and I had the visceral reaction of wanting to throw my computer across the room. Jessica Pearson clearly kept her own goddamn name, because it's on the title of her own goddamn firm.

Yes! It's awesome how there's no jokes/asides of having a woman boss and Jessica is so BAMF and classy too!
Ugh, "Mrs. Pearson"? I definitely second your urge to throw your computer across the room.
I wonder who is Hardman though?

So much yes to everything you just said! We seem to follow some of the same fandoms. I especially agree with Psych. when I first got into that fandom I was shocked at the lack of Shawn/Gus.
Suits is wonderful, clever and has great eye candy. I agree with the points on diversity and roles of women but TV has gotten so bad so lately that seeing Gina Torres as THE BOSS sealed it for me.
