Okay, Captain America trailer? Sold.

X-Men First Class? Obvs. Sold.

But seriously--Nazis and Russians? Why are we jumping back to sixty years ago here? Have we run out of space aliens and futuristic imperialists?

I mean. Nazis. Again.

I heard a rumor way back that Jensen Ackles was up for that part, which would have worked out just fine for me, thankyouverymuch, so I wasn't going to see this movie. But you know? Thanks for pointing out the trailer. I, er, see what you mean. 'Sides, Chris Evans never hurt anybody, right? I can live with this.

Also, Nazis and Russians are apparently the only safe targets politically at the moment. I kind of understand why, but at the same time you're right, it's getting kind of old. (heh)

Well, it's one thing for Indiana Jones to fight Nazis. I just don't understand how they're supposed to be a viable enemy in the 21st century context. The closest we've come recently was probably V for Vendetta, and part of the reason it was a successful narrative was because it was in some uncertain future, not firmly in the past.

Captain America is no Band of Brothers, is what I'm saying.
