I don't know that I would call this productive, exactly. Maybe "time-consuming."

Even when I'm not writing much (so much for that vacation!) I'm a pretty avid reader of le fic, in a thousand and one different fandoms. Mostly it's whatever tickles my fancy--right now it's a lot of The Eagle, a lot of Glee, mixed in with the Inception-Social Network (FPS/RPS)-Hawaii 5-0 trifecta that's pretty much defined 2011 for me. \o/ !!! Reading!!! This is so awesome, thank you :)

Quick note on the subject of your LJ mems: your link above is to the standard mems page, which actually takes me to my own memories. Here's a better link: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=templemarker

Thank you! ♥

Thanks for the link check--you really can't throw in a dozen links without cocking something up, so I appreciate it.

Happy hunting. :)

I'm hunting happily already ♥ I've been looking for a good but straightforward GK archive, because when I first got into it I really wasn't keeping track of anything at all, and I'm sure I missed... a lot. You have my gratitude :)

I used to do posts and posts of a hundred or more stories of recs--similar to the style you do yours in now, only with a lot more stories in a lot more fandoms--but that was just exhausting so I gave it up. These days I just point people to these links (or my Dropbox shared folder, which is where I store everything I've ever liked) and it's a lot easier. :)

GK will be thorough from its inception to December 2009, and then pick up again in December 2010; I kind of lost track of the fandom after the first yagkyas because it was going the way of fanon and the au, neither of which I was especially interested in. But yagkyas is something I'm still committed to running, and a lot of amazing stories come out of it, so I'll always read there. And occasionally if a strong rec comes my way I'll give it a go.

GK is just--it seems like all the stories have been told, now. When you're working with such limited canon, and with quasi-rpf from a decade ago, it's hard to scare up new avenues to do your characters, and fandom, justice.
