That's right (that's why the scare quotes and the [sic]). In addition to the famous folks, I know several directors of small-scale Shakespeare theaters who would be so much better qualified than she--and will never have the chance to reach such a large audience.
Oh, yes, I understood what you meant - I was just saying that even *if* the Globe wanted to hire her for whatever incomprehensible reasons of its own, I *still* don't understand why she would have even applied for the job in the first place, let alone accepted it! Why not go work with plays she actually seems to like?
But you're absolutely right; it's a shame to think about the directors and theater managers who would have been a perfect fit for this position, who would have been able to bring good Shakespeare to a large audience.
