my non-review of Belle

So, before I get started, here's a review of Belle that I don't like or agree with much:
"In 'Belle,' a complex life tangled in class and commerce"http://www.npr.org/2014/05/02/308733902/in-belle-a-complex-life-tangled-in-class- ( Read more... )

I'm still really hoping to see Belle in theatres but the closest showing...the closest showings yet...are 406 miles away in Atlanta, Georgia. When I looked up the list of theatres getting it later, the closest theatres were...Miami.

Yeah, Miami is about 200 miles away.

I really hate...someone, I'm not sure. It's either the distributors who think my area has no taste or the theatre owners who think they won't profit.

And by area, I'm being nice, I'm well aware that most independent/arty films require a 1-2 hour drive, sometimes three...

Oh, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, I've loved her since Doctor Who. Did you see Undercovers? I kept hoping Marvel would cast her as something, she'd be an awesome Captain Marvel.

Yikes! That was another reason that I thought I ought to go see it opening weekend: if it did well in the earlier cities, maybe there would be more screenings elsewhere. It's such a frustrating business model, though - why would you not make your product available to more people???

I'm not really a fan of spy shows, but I watched the first few episodes of Undercovers solely for her. I hope she gets the praise she deserves for this film!

I feel bad for Tom Felton. He is clearly being type-cast as the irritating person in every movie he's in. WHY? C'mon Hollywood studios, don't continue this. Give him a good-guy role (or at least an anti-hero).

Yeah - perhaps he needs to talk with his agent about really pushing for different kinds of parts? (I have no ice how Hollywood works, but actors always seem to be mounting campaigns to change their image…)
