After season 6 (epecially the end of "The God Complex") and the most recent special, my working theory is that Ten runs away from people because he doesn't want to get hurt, but Eleven is more likely to run away because he doesn't want to hurt the people he loves. Which is an interesting switch.

It's about time, IMO. By the end, I was staggered and appalled at how selfish, self-centered 10 was. I think only my admiration of David Tennant kept me from bailing.

For me, the weirdest thing was that Ten seemed to get worse instead of better. It's one thing to be skittish about relationships for a bit after something sad happens; it's quite another to keep treating people badly and get mired in self-pity. (I tried watching "The End of Time" again recently, since my mother has BBC America and it was on; Ten's take on regeneration as death still really grates.)

That made me FURIOUS! Downright furious. All the other Doctors had a "oh, well, here we go again" attitude and most of them rushed to assure whatever companions were around that they were the same guy. Ten whines on and on and on to Wilf about dying and how he's dead and it's not only not how the Doctor has treated it up to and including becoming Ten, it's the *exact opposite* of his attitude! And then to start demanding a "reward" like a whiny child wanting a lolly after a basic physical!

Exactly! Even in New Who, the entire *point* of 'The Christmas Invasion' is that Ten is still the same man.
