My mother has BBC America. So guess who's been watching S3 Doctor Who episodes every day like an idiot? Yeah, that'd be me. I just...I can't resist Martha, you know? Yeah, I have to work, but they replay everything late, so I can watch when I get home, and I have Season Three on DVR except Human Nature, but the more I watch it, you can't miss how brilliant both Freema and David are, even though the episode has so many cringe worth moments. Daleks had good and strange, and a couple of wrong moments. Tallulah's accent drove me up the wall, but I liked her, but I wished they had gone to Harlem instead.

Freema and David really are fantastic. I think my biggest problem with the Dalek episodes is that they don't quite figure out how to do the camp or homage elements alongside the serious ones: Tallulah is clearly a plucky "42nd Street" kind of character, and there are some moments that are just absurdly funny--like an elevator full of pigs. But then there are things that are probably supposed to be serious and don't quite work: Ten's Time War angst feels weirdly out of place to me when it's directed at a Dalek wearing spats. It's not like Doctor Who doesn't frequently combine the ridiculous and the scary--so maybe the proportions just don't work for me?
