Friday's forecast called for rain all day long, but the water had stopped falling long before I rolled out of bed, and it turned out to be a lovely day, much warmer and sunnier than I'd expected it to be. The front yard got mostly cleared, but mostly not by me, because I tend to be pretty much useless whenever I'm sick. There was some time for sitting on the deck in the sun, reading one of the books I'd brought along, and that certainly improved my disposition, if not my need for a Kleenex every five minutes (grr). Just to see if anybody was paying attention, there was a thunderstorm in the evening, a minor one which nevertheless managed to knock out our power supply twice or thrice, and a brief spate of truly torrential downpour, which put an end to any delusions of yardwork that may have been hanging about. So sad.
Saturday was much cooler and cloudier, but did involve a trip to a certain used book store, a visit with a relative, several card games (three-player
cribbage; I lost the first few games, but then somebody made the mistake of pointing out to me that I hadn't won any yet, so I promptly turned around and administered one of the finest whippings I have ever had the privilege of witnessing: both opponents skunked by a healthy margin, and I could have easily double skunked one of them had I chosen to do so. I gave them the next game to recover, then beat them soundly again. Today's lesson: don't taunt the sick kid ;), a little bit of stargazing, and staying up later than I should have trying to finish another book.
Sunday was cool but sunny, and mostly consisted of packing up, going home, and catching up on things missed or neglected due to illness. Speaking of which, I must say I really liked
Saturday's apod. After examining the cupboards, it seems I have sufficient ingredients at my disposal for the creation of both cookies and cake. Hmm. Tempting, but likely overkill... on the other hand, I have no objection to eating any leftovers, so we shall see. Sometime I should see about studying for my Cryptography final, too. And then there's this 24.6 GB folder that mysteriously appeared on my computer the other day. I blame you, Mikey ;) I'm not quite good-as-new yet, but I'm definitely better. And I'm going to bed now to try to not make that statement untrue.
