I have an account there, and I transferred some of my older fics from several fandoms. Traffic for Bones fics (both old and new) is almost zero, but there's some interest in my older Harry Potter stuff.
The kudos system they have in addition to the reviewing function is a mixed blessing - it's nice to get kudos, but on the other hand hardly anyone leaves reviews on the site, so there's hardly any personal interaction with the readers.
The site is not that complicated to use, although the occasional bug creeps in, and I've sometimes had trouble with formatting issues. Nothing more complicated than ff.net, for example, just a little different.
We've got rain here too, but after a week of 30°C (which is very much not normal for late April/early May) that's actually a blessing. I hope your cold gets better!
I think it's pretty easy and it lets you import things from other websites (like say LJ) just by pasting in the address. That's worked fairly well for me. I like the hits tracking option they have though it can be annoying knowing 74 people viewed a fic but NONE left feedback *grumbles* Their Kudos button is actually pretty nice and doesn't annoy me like the favourites button on ff.net *L*
The Castle Finale actually looks awesome! I'm hopeful it will be given they managed to pull of ZOMBIES as the killer so well this week! (That was a fantastic ep overall I think!)
The site, overall, is pretty easy to use. What is nice, I think, is if you have an accompanying image (like for those of us that write in big bangs), you can insert an image.
I like it over fanfiction.net, because it's easier to get the story up and edit things.
I think the only thing is, traffic is still relatively slow because people seem to prefer FF.net. But I do like the stats. Even if people don't leave feedback, they can leave kudos and you can see how many hits your story has gotten as well.
You can also create collections, plus you can link things as a series, so if someone looks at one story and sees that it's a part of a series, they can click on that link and it will show them all the stories in a series.
I love the idea of being able to put an image with a fic.. I could maybe have fun making some to go with mine *ponders*
Yeah have heard traffic is low... but mainly I want somewhere to archive everything because my fic is only here at the moment and I worry about losing it.
Love the collections and series feature too. FFN needs to have that option!
Never heard of AO3 so can't help with that! Sorry! Otherwise I am also eagerly anticipating the Castle finale....I don't know if I can survive till Monday. I think I've watched the promo a hundred times...I am ridiculously excited!!
All of this is from a reader's point of view- I don't have an account there (since, as everyone knows, I don't write, just read). And it bugs me that I can't leave comments on fics without an account. I love the organizational system and wish LJ would implement the "tiered" tags system. Their tagging system definitely needs some work though, they have at least 5 different tags for every pairing because people just arbitrarily make their own. I have found that I enjoy reading fics on AO3 more than on LJ because I know that I can always find the next chapter or sequel or what have you without having to go back to an authors LJ, or a comm and sift through tags and such.
I just got over a horrible cold- had me sick for 2 weeks! *hands you tissues and meds*
