I think everyone should go read this post and it's follow up's on LJDrama. Livejournal.com may be changing management soon if they aren't very careful about this. Protecting a pedophile is not legal in the US under any circumstances. By deleting the account they can also be charged with impeding a criminal investigion by distroying evidence.

After further investigation, it also may be charged with promoting child pornograpy, if the computer forensics folk find the pictures posted on the the flist.

I'm not an authority on this, but I believe that deleting a journal on LJ just makes it inaccessable and doesn't actually wipe out any content. The arguement could be made that they marked the accounts as deleted to keep the owners of said accounts from changing the contents of the offending posts before an investigation happens.

But in the end, we shal have to wait and see.
