In another lifetime, Eloise had watched her son grow up, knowing that one day he would die at her hands.
Desmond didn’t take Daniel with him, but the fear of losing him remained now.
She’d thought she was safe until he recognised Charlotte. Daniel hadn’t fully understood then, and Eloise had been determined that he wouldn’t. She’d approached Charlotte, asked that she stay away from Daniel.
“He’s not happy here,” Charlotte had retorted. “Daniel wants to move on with me. Why are you forcing him to linger here? Let him go.”
But even if Daniel stayed, he remembered what had happened now. Whatever happened, he’d part from her.
