Oh dear God.

I just made the mistake of reading some TrekSmut I wrote with my former writing partner, Vee.

The sex? Badfic sex.

I had no idea we sucked that much.

Aww, I have fond memories of that TrekSmut! That was some of the first slash I ever read. Don't be so hard on yourself!^_^

Awww...thank you! I know that part of it is the fact that we were all a little more purple back then; it was the style and Vee always leaned a little that way anyway. And mostly it's just the sex; I can pat myself on the back in that the story itself is pretty sound.

Having read plenty of Treksmut, I can agree that the style was a little purple. That was the way everyone did it and hey, you write to your audience! But I have no complaints. Your P/Q will always hold a special place in my heart. :)

See that's the thing. None of the stuff I wrote in my head in high school is around in any way shape or form, but this is stuff I wrote in my mid 30s and sadly, my co-writer's extremely dated web site is still there.

We're always our own worst critic. I'm sure it wasn't that bad, but we all know the more we write the better we get. :)

I'm a little hard on myself at times, true, but this is more having to acknowledge a massive style shift. We were a lot more purple in the 90s, at least in the fandoms I was in.

I can reread my more recent stuff--the RPS and the SGA--but before that, not so much. It's a style shift; my earlier stuff was a lot more purple. And while that was the style we all used, it still makes me wince.

I don't buy it.
why don't you post this "badfic" sex and we can comment on just how bad it is...
I think I may have to do a supplemental for the exam I wrote today so I could really use a laugh!
