This was cute.

Though now it's making me think differently about the whole Batman/Robin dynamic.... o_O

I wonder if Star Trek will spawn a new generation of K/Sers. K/S was my first OTP, but, with the new movie (nothing against Quinto), now I would rather see K/M. Urban is HOT. In fact, you could pair McCoy with anyone and I'd be happy. My first slash fanzine was 'In Triplicate' back in the 80s, a Kirk/Spock/McCoy zine. Talk about an introduction to slash.

I total ship Kirk/McCoy in New!Trek too! TOS is all about the Kirk/Spock but the movie has an entirely different vibe between the two of them, so no. But the Kirk/McCoy, ah the Kirk/McCoy...*happy contemplation* Urban totally owned the slash vibe there!

I'm all up with the McCoy love too! Always have been, but Karl really reminded me how much I loved that character. And yes, omg so many K/Mc vibes! They never said, but you totally know they roomed together and had, at the very least, drunk buddy sex. I think Bones is totally fine with the fact that Jim's a big ol' manwhore because he knows that he's Jim's best bud and that that means more to Jim than any number of casual encounters with green chicks.

Exactly! They *get* each other, and Kirk knows that McCoy always has his back, even while he's grumping away at him.

Isn't he though? And because he's not Shatner, I can go there! Yays!

See, I knew I wanted to wait for all mah slash enablers to write about the new Trek movie before I went! (I find it hard to believe any other actress could be as smokin' as Nichelle as Uhura, but I guess I can conceive of it. However, I cannot imagine any male ST:OS character being toothsomer than DeForest Kelley. I swear, Dr. McCoy caused premature puberty {back when youngsters could admit that adults are also attractive}.)

But anyways.... this fic is completely delightful. Rodney needs to institute a "top or bottom?" fee so he'll at least get something good from John's obsession! ;-)

I loved De so very much as McCoy; he was always my favorite character. And I have to say that I think Karl did a great job with the part; I can totally see him as De's younger self. Somewhere on my flist, someone quoted Nimoy as saying that he choked up when he saw the scene where McCoy and Kirk meet; said he thought that somewhere De was smiling (paraphrase).

And I liked Zoe as Uhura, she played her a little differently than Nichelle did, but that's more the script than the actress, I think. But the real thing for me (and yes, that's John speaking for me) is that I can finally get past the "ewww Shatner!" thing and write about Kirk (including, apparently, a Sheppard/Kirk thing). There was a reason I didn't write much in the way of K/S back when I wrote TrekSmut.

But anyway, glad you liked the fic. :)
