I really want to do this, but I need your help....
As most of us who have been following RaceFail '09 know, verb_noire is one of the more positive things to come out of this whole mess. As I mentioned in my last post, they're a small press whose stated mission is: "To celebrate the works of talented, underrepresented authors and deliver them to a readership that demands more."
The thing is, this kind of enterprise takes money. I was thinking of offering a couple of fics to people who donated and then I realized that maybe something like that should be done on a pan-fandom wide level. So I pinged karnythia and ran the idea by her and she's good with it.
What I'm thinking of is a community a little like livelongnmarry or fire_fic or any of the other comms set up that reward donations to good causes with fan works. I want to keep this in the spirit of the press itself, and so the one thing I want to insist on is that people only offer fan works prominently featuring at least one character of color.
Right now I'm looking for a) someone detail-oriented to help me run this and b) the level of interest in participating. If you're interested in helping mod the comm, PM me through LJ's message system. If you're interested in participating by offering a fan work, comment to this post.
