This is a brilliant idea! I love your ideas for Ronon and Teyla. Also, I would have Rodney being relieved that John has reconsidered because he was tempted to blackmail him into it.
I've been waiting and waiting for the episode to air just so I could read your Vegas posts, lol. I'd totally watch your re-worked show. It actually sounds more interesting than canon.
The first thing I realized when watching this was that it was taking place in real Vegas, Planet Hollywood and all (and btw, PH is always the mainstaple of new stuff, such as "21", because it's new and shiny and wants the publicity bad; that location used to be the Aladdin, which tanked).
And my next thought was "zomg I could cross this over with Las Vegas" (the show with James Caan and Josh Duhamel).
I dunno. I'm flying on a migraine and Excedrin and I'll have more settled thoughts after it's over, but I have to say, this as a pilot would have been cool had it not been for missing Ronon and Teyla so much! I kept waiting for them to show up and wondering what on Earth they were missing for. :(
If you do end up writing that cross-over...stargate_vegas. Just sayin'.
And yeah, missing Teyla/Rachel and Ronon/Jason in the worst way. Nothing like giving cameos to a ton of people on your production staff but not to two people who are in the credits and therefore you have to pay whether they show up or not. Both Nancy and I did that rant too, but mine boiled down to the fact that this was an excellent episode and a massive failure at the same time and wow, that takes a special talent the SG PTB seem to exercise with annoying regularity.
oooh yes! (But carefully not turning it into alien-of-the-week a la Torchwood -- not that I don't love Torchwood, but.) I especially like them not finding out about John's gene for a while: though, given that Rodney's met an alt!John, did that version have the gene? If so, could John deliberately flunk the test? Because Vegas!John might just do that.
. Okay, I slid in from -- some link -- because I recognize your name because I've enjoyed your fic. And, having read all the comments...
I nominate you and rheanna27 to gather a group of like-minded writers and produce this virtual season. Maybe something like one episode a month, so there wouldn't be so much 'crunch-time'. Eight or ten episodes would make a lovely arc/season. *bats eyelashes which, due to age, completely fails to sway you, but it was worth a try* .
