The State Within is trying pretty hard to be convoluted and in the first ep, it's managed to toss out a lot of strands and only show us how a few of them are connected. I am hopelessly confused, which I suspect is the intention. I'll admit that I'm hooked and I'd probably be hooked even if Jason weren't fantastic. Sharon Gless is

I hope you don't mind me commenting on this and this is not personal to individuals in any way, but you kinda asked the question so... yes, this is largely how people in the UK think with regard to the US.

You're big, dangerous and have a very scary man at the helm. Worse, a man without a single visible brain cell. (Don't worry, ours isn't much better.)

Your culture is fantastic and the few Americans I've met have been lovely but as a nation, you terrify us.

As for Jason - so beautiful, like that's a surprise. Definitely need more boy kissing too!

Actually this is how a lot of us Americans see our country, as well. Most commonly asked question where I work... "Oh shit, what's he done now??" Sigh.

But the Jason. Oh, yeah. I don't even have TV, yet I'm developing a taste for him, definitely. And boy kissing on the telly! I may not get to see it myself, but still, yay!

I can highly recommend Torchwood for more boy kissing. We've only had three episodes so far and there have two gorgeous displays of boy snogs already.

It has occurred to me that the problems with the world are because we allow men to run things. Whilst they are very pretty to look at (well, some of them anyway) I'm sure that if women were in charge there would be a lot less trouble going on. There would also be a lot more boy kissing!

Oh I don't mind; I wouldn't have put it up otherwise.

And as Brig said below, that's largely how a number of us regard our country as well. I spent my teen-aged years outside the US and so I'm used to both the misconceptions and correct assumptions people make about the US. I also know to try not to make assumptions about other countries because it's so easy to a) offend someone and b) be wrong.

In this case, I actually do think that the incident where the young couple gets shot at was implausible but not totally impossible. Which is a weird feeling to have about your own country.

And hopefully tomorrow, we'll be taking a step in the right direction and voting some of the bastards out and putting the rest of them under much more serious scrutiny.

And then hopefully on Thursday, more Jason and more boy kissing. Well Thursday for you; I have to wait until someone loads it on a torrent.
