I'm so in love with this story. Watching this friendship develop is just riveting. I love that Viggo by his very nature causes Lucius to reevaluate so many things.

Thank you! Viggo's doing some reevaluating of his own, although that we won't see that for a while.

Very good chunk. [nod] I particularly liked this bit:

As Viggo goes to get water, Lucius glances down and sees the box with his wand. For an instant, he's tempted to grab it, just to hold. Like Boromir with the Ring? Shaking his head, he settles back and waits for Viggo.

That comparison really rang true, you know?

Thank you, hon!

And yes, I liked Nancy's comparison there a lot. :)

First, weensy typo: And do I really want to know that the other ones are? -- I think you mean "what" not "that"?

Lovely chapter. I love how it shifts seamlessly from inside Lucius' head to Viggo's and back. (a trick I can never pull off myself...) Viggo is such a philosopher, isn't he?

Eeep! Thank you; it's amazing what can get past three readers, including an eagle-eyed beta.

And I'm glad you liked this chapter. As for our shifting point of veiw, each of us writes a character--in this case, I'm Viggo and she's Lucius--and we shift POV's as we write in AIM*. If we're at all good at it, it's because we've been doing it for over three years now.

*The geek factor is pretty high since we do this sitting here in bed with our respective laptops. *facepalms*

Co-writing through AIM sounds really neat!

Thank you! I really love to do dialog like that; where it's part of establishing a mood or showing the way people interact. Not every conversation we have in real life is earth-shattering, but how we relate to people really does show in our quieter moments. So yes, I'm really glad that works in this piece.

Lucius as Faramir would never have occurred to me, but then Nancy went and gave him an older brother and there it was. I love the way she blended elements from both HP and LotR into the dream; it's a nice echo of blending the two fandoms.

Thank you! It's wonderful to write opposite Nancy's Lucius, because she's taken such a two dimensional character and made him really come to life, and so it's fascinating to see him work through his issues.
