Domesticity and Me

Jan 30, 2010 13:58

My domestic interests, and skill sets, pretty much begin and end in the kitchen. I'm a damned good cook and I really enjoy doing it. It's something that requires creativity and gut instinct coupled with the ability to follow instructions and to know when you can not follow instructions and still not break something. A lot like writing, now that I ( Read more... )

And manic cleaning mode is what I'm trying to avoid the need for *ever* *again*. I doubt I'll manage it, but if I can just get a better handle on it, I'll be happy. At least we have better storage here. That'll help a lot.

It's just so BORING! I hate being bored and it happens far too easily. One of the reasons I'm online so much is to find a way to beat the boredom.

And damn those dust bunnies. :-)

LOL! Cooking's a *lot* easier and more fun. And you get FOOD at the end of it! :-) Probably something instinctive at work there. :-)

I just finished vacuuming. I didn't even have to get the vacuum out because I left it sitting out the last time I used it - about a month ago. And the only reason I used it today was because I was tired of seeing bits of glitter all over the floor that came from Christmas cards sent to me a month and a half ago. Yes, that means the glitter was already on the floor the last time I used the vacuum but didn't bother to try to clean it up then.

I wonder when I'll get around to cleaning the dust off the dining room ceiling that gets kicked there by the 24/7 operating ceiling fan.

I shudder to think what the cats will do when I drag out the vacuum. On the rare occasions I used it in the past, they always escaped the monster by going outside.

No more outside here.

Oops. :-)

In my experience, they dive under the bed and frantically try to look every direction at once.

I put together 3/4 of a bookcase today mostly because I know if I finish it, then I really have to get to the cleaning and transferring stage of the project. Every single time I deep clean my apartment I vow to never let it become a cluttery mess again.

Everything should be perfect...

LOL! Yeah, I know the feeling. It helps that I don't have a toddler at the outset of this new place. :-) That's one of the things that did me in fast at the last place. :-)

Well, I'll be honest. I also got tired of all the screwing. I screwed for hours today. I'm tired.
