Hmm, just to tell you ahead of time, below is a list of the thoughts running through my head as I watched SGU for the first time:

Though , is his name really "Elli"? I love that, my lease horse is called Elli! It's a fairly common name here though. And my Elli is a kind of a bitch :P

I'm just so sick of all the asshattery and sexism and moral issues they've presented in their press releases, casting calls and Tweets that I'm just utterly fed up and want nothing to do with the whole series.

Ohhh. Hmm. There is that, isn't there? I don't really know much about it. After I found out that they'd canceled SGA for it, I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it for a good long while. I didn't follow the info about it after I saw the character summaries. I was way too pissed off about it. D:

I don't know if you'll actually be missing anything by not watching it or not. I'm not sure of it yet myself. I just know that I want it to succeed or there will be no more Stargate at all. If it does well, we'll get SGA and SG-1 movies! Which, you know, is better then nothing. ;__;

Wow, your review was a lot kinder than mine is going to be. I was actually ranting and raving about this the other day. I decided to calm down and maybe watch the next episode before I do my review... otherwise curse words may need to be used.

xD!! LOL. It took me a long time before hand to try to get rid of my prejudice for this show and try to watch it with an open mind. Also? I was in an exceedingly good mood when I watched it for the first time, so that probably helped! :D

I'll be very, very interested to read and see what you have to say about it. Really really. The plot is still lame though. o__o It was good for lots of laughs (even if it wasn't supposed to be).

A lot of people said the flicking between past and present was badly done and that it wasn't always immediately obvious where we were. I agree, I actually like that device but it really didn't work for me in this.

Everyone else had no excuse. I watched them walk through the Stargate calmly and be flung out on the opposite side

And yes, that was Jack O'Neill at the door at the beginning. I wasn't sure until I heard him speak either. The snark gave it away.

I might watch a couple more episodes, enough to see a mission at least, get a feel for where they're going.

Yes, it was badly done! It wasn't so bad in the beginning of the show, but when it came to the more action scenes, I had a hard time trying to figure out what was going on. Like where the one soldier was abruptly pointing a gun at Rush.

I actually burst out laughing when I saw that. The way they fell in was even badly done. It was too dramatic, like they were literally being picked up and tossed threw. I about died when Young flew across the room. Until, you know, I saw the blood. Then I felt sort of guilty for laughing

Yes, the quick changes wouldn't have been so bewildering if they hadn't had exactly the same lighting in both timelines. usually it's bright in the future and dark and dismal when bad stuff is happening. But the whole episode felt very washed out and colourless.

It was O'Neill knocking on his door, he did look weird in that whole scene though O.o

Yeah, absolutely so my opinion is on careful hold...

LOL. Yes, it sounds like they're going a bit cheap on the graphics (*coughLIGHTNINGcough*)... which is sad, because I almost like the new design (aside from their lack of color). Maybe the reason it's so dark is because the whole episode is washed out and bad stuff is happening. I mean, they don't even have life support working properly. Maybe it will get better with repairs (although, I recall their whole design is black and yellow or something).

HAH! I just had the weirdest mental image of the Stargate coughing weakly a few times and groaning (the metal creaking) before just vomiting out people with an excess of water (SGA?). o___o

Hmm. I thought it might have been O'Neil, but, a friend told me I was hallucinating it up. xD I agreed with him because he definitely looked strange and I couldn't seem to get a clear view of his face.
