There was too much to be done and she just wasn't the type to sit still unless she had a rather engrossing art project holding her attention. Yet, as Friday had come to a close, she'd found herself feeling...off. She'd gone to bed early, determined to sleep off whatever

[Despite the posting not actually being addressed to her, Amelia reads it anyway, and immediately begins to worry.]

Jilly? Are you okay?

[she doesn't mind. She's never sorry to hear from Amelia] Yeah, I'm okay. Just...not feeling the greatest.

[that was an understatement. It had been awhile since she'd had an actual fever. She'd forgotten how miserable those could be]

[Her friend getting sick is not something Amelia is happy to hear about. There may be an undue note of urgency to her voice.]

Have you seen a doctor yet?

[that gets a small laugh, followed by a grimace. Not that Amelia can see. Sore throats are not fun] I live with a doctor. Its one of the perks.

...I think I've been grounded.

[ when he gets whiff of the coffee brewing in the kitchen, McCoy emerges from his bedroom. he smiles when he sees Jilly and apparently, his doctor senses aren't tingling quite yet. ]

Nice to see you've joined us in the land of the living.

[she starts a little. She really hadn't been paying enough attention to notice his approach until he spoke. She does try to manage a bleary smile, though]

I feel like I'm still working on that part. I didn't mean to sleep so late.

Sorry. [ he shrugs apologetically when she startles and moves across the kitchen to reach into one of the cabinets. ] I didn't hear you come in last night.

[she shakes her head, quickly stifling a yawn, followed by a small grimace. That actually hurt. She'd be glad when the coffee was done, grateful for something warm to sooth her throat] I think I was home before you. I went to bed...pretty early I think.

[At some point? Jack will be slipping through Jilly's bedroom window with a couple of dried salamanders in his pocket. Be afraid, Jilly.]

'Allo? Lovely?

[she'd been dozing off and on since heading back to her room. She's not exactly asleep when Jack finds his way inside, but she's far enough between sleep and wakefulness that it doesn't immediately occur to her to question why Jack is actually there. Or why he came through a window.]

Mmm?

[Action 2/2]

[until, a few seconds later, his presence registers enough for her to realize that this was not normal. Or, in fact, a dream. Blinking, she pushes back up into a sitting position, rubbing one eye]

Jack? When did you-

Did you just come through the window?

[and why oh why had no one warned her about the salamanders?]

Aye, lovely. [He kneels down at her bedside, a worried look creasing his face.] Not------not the wasting disease, is it?

What's the matter?

I've been grounded.

[sick or not, there was still enough energy in her to joke a little]

I've caught some kind of bug or something. I just need a little sleep, is all.

[or, you know, a couple weeks of sleep. Same difference]

You've caught a what?

[voice]

oh... a cold. Or something. Not an actual bug. [she doesn't generally get fevers with a cold, but there's no point in making a fuss]

[ a soft knock on her bedroom door. ]

[ action ]

Come on in.

[it's not a very loud call, but she is, at least, awake]

[ action ]

[ she slips into the room. ]

I come with gifts. Orange juice shaped gifts.

I am a fan of gifts. And orange juice. So this counts as a success.
