Susan

Post-The Last Battle
She sees the dark undersides of her eyelids and a line of light where they don’t quite meet, and it is blurred and crossed by her eyelashes, dark too, with mascara from the morning. She feels the cool grass on her back where there is a gap between her skirt and her shirt, and her skin is pale white. The warmth of the sun seems distant, almost as distant as the rain that splatters her face, falling in soft rivets across her cheeks. She wonders if it wrong to want to live, and then if it is wrong to want to die, and then she wonders which one she really wants, and she finds she does not know or care.
A few minutes or a few hours pass, Susan can not tell which. But she stands up and walks away, leaving the proud gravestones in their silence. Her time will come, and so she raises her head to the sky, proud and sad and alive, and forever a queen.

This is my response to all the "Susan dies and happily joins her brothers and sister in Narnia" stories. :P I hope it's ok!

Of course it's ok! It's more than ok, it's wonderful! *memories post* I shall treasure it forever. :-)

I know what you mean, with the Susan dying fics. kessie has one that I really like, but then, I find myself incapable of disliking anything she writes, because she's too good a writer. But it's good to see a new perspective.
