I've certainly never heard that the show wasn't a sell out, in fact a lot was made here about the fact the tickets were gold dust, they sold out in 2 days. I actually went to the Sunday show at MK and it was PACKED, so obviously it was a choice made by the promoters over health and safety or some other reason as to why there was space, also remembering that people surge to the front so of course there would be areas of ground showing at the back.
The atmosphere was amazing and to be honest I love the fact they chose England for their biggest ever tour, maybe I'm biast... but the fact that they have stayed successful here for their WHOLE career desreves a little bit of a spectacle and I'm not sure they would have received the same support in America, just my opinion.
And regarding the political aspect of the album, we totally appreciated its sentiment seeing as American politics unfortunately affects everyone else in the world, I'm sure that comes over in the dvd.
I'm sorry if I offended you, it was not my intention. ♥
You're probably right about the tickets, though the blank space was to the sides (and even some up in front - which is what really seemed odd to me).
I'm positive the atmosphere was amazing. And like I said, I love the DVD, I just don't think it captured the same way it would have had they chose to film in the states. The September 11th show was sold out (a smaller audience as it was in an arena, but still sold out).
The audience was amazing in Detroit that night. Every political statement hit harder because of the night.
I know that American politics affects everyone in the world. Any politics anywhere affects everywhere but always on a different level. I would not have said the things I have had I not in essence seen 4 shows and listened to one other. And perhaps all my whinging buried my compliments on the DVD, but I did enjoy it.
I guess it doesn't look good, but they had these huge barriers up about 10 metres from the stage and in MK its really difficult to see things from the side which may explain a little about the blank spaces... its ridiculous how health and saftey is over here, we werent even allowed bottles in to the arena which is crazy considering that day was HOT.
I guess its just a nationality thing isn't it - I wanted them here and you wanted them there, maybe they will film a show in the States soon
Okay. I just wasn't sure and I really didn't want you to be. ♥
Gotcha. That would explain it. but yeah, in those long sweeping shots, the empty space just stood out. We're not allowed bottles in venues either. you can only drink whatever you buy there. though some of the all day - outdoorsy type venues allow food, just not beverages.
I'm not sure, really. LOL. I mean, I personally want to move to either Dublin or London before I turn thirty and live there the rest of my life. But it would be nice if they filmed a show here in the states for dvd.
Hee! I was quite amused when I caught glimpses of his ass during the show, he just could not keep his pants pulled up. Not that I was complaining. *coff*
