I don't mind at all ^^ Actually it's not that hard, it's all about the layers. You make layers for everythin first: skin, hair, eyes, clothes, etc. When you finished painting all that (with simple plain colors) the comes the good stuff, the shadows and the lights, that's what gives life to the coloring. You apply your shadows and lights in the way you prefer, and you are all done!
Ah, okay. I wasn't sure how it was done. I thought that somehow the white background of the scan was made transparent. Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll try it myself once I get a tablet. n__n

If you don't mind my asking, how exactly did you color the scans like that? It seems like it would be a difficult thing to do.
