A/N: For carnivalgirl, who wanted Remus, Tonks and little Teddy for her birthday. I'm afraid Teddy doesn't make a direct appearance, but he's the focus of the problem, so to speak.
Tonks lay with her head on Remus’ shoulder, tracing patterns on his chest. “So, when do you want to tell Teddy?”
His hand froze in mid-caress. “Teddy?”
“Yeah, you know, our five-year-old son?” She rolled over to cross her arms on his chest and rest her chin on her hands, looking up at him through a fringe of pink hair. “When do you want to tell him?”
Tonks felt the grin she had been wearing all day slip away as Remus frowned. “I hadn’t thought about Teddy.”
“Well,” she said cautiously, “he’ll have to know sometime.”
“It’s just ... is this fair to him?”
“Remus, it’s a little late for second thoughts!”
“I know, I know. And I’m happy about this, truly. He’s just so ... perfect, our boy. And we’re about to turn his world upside down without so much as a by-your-leave.”
Tonks smiled in relief and snuggled back under his shoulder. It was all right, then - just normal parenting jitters. “We’re giving Teddy a little sister, not shipping him off to Durmstrang.”
“A sister?”
“So Mum says. ‘A mother knows such things, Nymphadora,’” Tonks intoned in a dead-on imitation of Andromeda.
“A little girl.” Remus shifted out from under her and turned on his side, fingering a lock of hair at the nape of her neck. “With pink hair.”
“Or eyes the color of chocolate,” she countered.
His face lit up in a wide smile. “We’re having a baby.”
