I'm sorry, I've really tried to avoid most things political on this blog, but I simply can't take it any more. I'm gonna 'splode if I hear one more person claiming that Obama is a communist/socialist/Muslim/terrorist, so I'm only going to say this once:

I don't agree with Obama on a lot of issues (though I did vote for him, because I'd rather him than McCain!) but I am so. sick. of people splicing his words and putting words in his mouth that he didn't say. When I first saw clips of that particular statement on YouTube, it looked like he was talking about the Constitution, not Civil Rights at all. And let's face it -- the Constitution was written by slave-owners and racists!!

I don't agree with Obama on everything, either (believe it or not, lol; his vote on FISA in particular was epic FAIL), and I wasn't even sure he should run this time around. But he's won me over because he's proven himself to be thoughtful and intelligent and even tempered, traits which I believe are needed at this point in our history. I think that, given his judgement, he will make the right decisions for the right reasons, most of the time.

I hope I'm right.

Definitely his eloquence and calm demeanor would be a nice change. I think he's who we need on foreign policy right now, if nothing else.
