Actually I'm thinking I might not need the TARDIS; lots of episodes don't have it. But it is kind of key to my "running away" theme.

Problem with using the maggots as the monster: It would then make sense to set the story in Wales, where they last appeared, but I don't know squat about Wales.

It would appear that some of The Green Death was shot in Glamorgan, which happens to be where Southerndown Beach is, also know to Whovians as Bad Wolf Bay. Which is cool, because I was hoping to use Southerndown Beach.

Actually, she really does need to take a trip in the TARDIS: The temptation of really running away has to be very real for the story to be effective. Not only does she have to go to another planet, she has to be very enthusiastic about being there. Being somewhere that's not earth, not home, not responsibility.

She would also have to, at some point, point out that it's supposed to be physically impossible for arthropods to get that big.

Such creatures would have to have evolved an internal skeleton of some sort. Which would imply that they were not simply the result of Global Chemicals' pollution (my heroine could point out to the Doctor). Perhaps the pollution awakened something that was hiding there all along? Or attracted some alien species? I like the idea of an alien species, because it gives me an excuse to use the TARDIS.

Unaware that the Doctor is not actually human, she might comment upon learning that the giant flies are actually aliens, how odd it is that they look exactly like a species that exists on earth. The Doctor might respond that it's actually surprisingly common.
