I've read several dozen entries on The Shrine in the past couple of days, so I won't belabor points made/talked/squee'd about many times over. I'll try to make note of things that mostly haven't been pointed out in other LJer's reviews.

The flood waters abated. It was a flash flood caused by an ice dam collapsing. Having survived a flash flood this past June, I can tell you the flooding doesn't take too awful long to abate. So, yeah, I can see that flooded valley unflooding in the 9 hours they spent in the jumper at which point they have the search and rescue team drop them off and go through the gate on foot while the jumper team continues their search for Nichols and company. During that nine hours, they were in the back of the rescue jumper, sleeping, talking, checking in on the search progress or whatever.
