Apparently there is a thriving body of fanfic for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.  Much of it is Ford/Arthur slash, which seems so reasonable that I'm astonished I never thought about it before.  TheirloveissoBritish.  (And Betelgeusian.) The image of Ford Prefect in my head is of the short, cute, red-haired man from the BBC version, though

I have to admit that Marlowe didn't actually write any slash about them; he was just quoted as saying:
