A wiki walk this evening took me to buildings like Wat Rong Khun, which is technically a privately funded and owned art exhibit and sculpture garden. Even so, it's known as the White Temple. The work of sculptor Chalermchai Kositpipat, it's full of surprises like this puddle of clawing hands and screaming faces which symbolize unrestrained desire, ( Read more... )

He's pretty great. Also the possible naga with the liquid serpent fingers. Thank you for both of those.

We aims to please. I think Sala Keoku has the highest concentration of disturbing art, because it's just so damn big. The creators evidently decided that it was go big or go home. Most of the photos don't have humans in them for scale, but the perspective shows that they're looming up. Melty snake fingers person wouldn't bother me so much if they were simply heroic in size, instead of GIGANTIMUNDO.

The sculptor in the Park of Monsters made the elephant look cruel. That's a real achievement, elephants usually having genial expressions.

I continue to believe that my daily life would be improved if it contained a higher quotient of monumental architecture. I wish the zoning laws of Boston agreed with me.

Same. The best option I can offer is the Museum of the Modern Renaissance, but it's only a small dose.
