Two very solid horror/comedy movies from New Zealand, which is apparently full of horror nerd filmmakers with small amounts of money and lots of love for genre films. I'd had no idea.

Nitpick: I *think* the Jesus statue predates the family's arrival.

I always like it when the final girl has an interesting mom :-)

Oh no, I just meant he keeps the three-quarter-size Jesus statue around, because I guess it might come in useful some day. Which is what people do with basement junk most of the time, if the decades of unused stuff in the Buttery basement is any evidence.

Her mom is actually pretty brave, too, in her way. I liked the scene where Mom makes impenetrable small talk that no one can interrupt.

Up
