I'm experimenting with Amazon's Cloud Drive for music hosting--thanks, rezendi.  Here's a file, from a CD I've recently recorded.  It's me singing "Bold General Wolfe," the Copper Family's version.  What happens when you click the link?  Do you get a little screen asking if you want to download or play the file?  Does it work at all?  Newfangled ( Read more... )

OK: I tried several times to click on Bold General Wolfe. First I get an Amazon.com sign-in screen asking for my email and password. I do have these (as an Amazon.com customer), so I entered them. Then I get a really confusing screen with all sorts of stuff, but nothing about this file--just asks me if I want to download or upload files. I didn't go any further, not knowing what would happen after that.

Aaargh. I think I was mistaken and Amazon Cloud isn't meant to work this way, after all. I'll try to sort out some other hosting service (but after a good night's sleep).

Darn, I guess it couldn't be as simple as I thought initially. Thanks for testing it for me, I'll sort something else out in a couple of days.

Hmm. I fear it sends me to my Cloud Drive, not yours. Meaning, I suspect, that for legal reasons (ie lest the songs in question be stolen MP3s) Amazon has made Cloud Drive for personal not public storage, meaning you'll probly have to look elsewhere...

It seemed too good to be true, and I guess it was. I'll find something else. Perhaps not for free, but for cheap. Thanks for helping sort it out, in any case.
