Politics occur only in the Vestigial Empire and on some PanCeltic Tours.  The Rule is that they are always very complicated and involve issues most Tourists have never heard of.  A typical piece of Politics would be:

Have you been watching "Game of Thrones"? Is this a subtle commentary on the politicking of GRRM? I have neither read the books nor seen the TV film, but from what I've heard. . .DWJ is spot on.

Heehee! No, I've not watched G of T., but it's been on my mind recently as I saw some of the press releases about it. This is, as you say, strangely appropriate.

I quit reading the Song of Ice and Fire series because it turned into a choice: watch the good guys suffer and fail, or else root for the bad guys. Yes, Real Life is full of horrors and atrocities and the bad guys winning and the innocent suffering, but books are supposed to be more satisfying than life.
